Boosting Gas Pressure
When the gas supply can't deliver the pressure your burners, boilers, ovens, or CHP engines need, they lose output, lock out, or won't start. A gas booster lifts the supply pressure to what the equipment needs, often without replacing the gas line. Hurll Nu-Way sizes, supplies, installs, commissions, and services Secomak and Utile Engineering gas boosters from 300 to 5,000 m³/hr.
Gas boosters by flow
Figures are each model's maximum flow and pressure lift. Size to your peak gas flow and the pressure you need to add.

Signs of low gas pressure
Burners that lock out on low gas pressure, struggle to reach full fire, or only fail when other equipment starts up are the usual signs. So are boilers or ovens that lose output on cold mornings, when demand across the network is highest.
It is common after a site adds equipment without upgrading the gas line, when a new burner needs more pressure than the old one, or where the site sits at the end of a long supply main.
Gas booster or a bigger gas line?
Sometimes the answer is a larger gas line or a higher pressure supply from the network. That can mean long lead times, trenching, and network charges. A booster fitted near the equipment lifts the pressure where it is needed, usually faster and at lower cost.
To size a booster we need four figures: the gas type, the peak gas flow in m³/hr, the inlet pressure available, and the outlet pressure the equipment needs. Our engineers check that against each booster's performance curve.
Packages and options
Secomak packages can add APS Inverter control to match the booster to demand, Duty Standby with two boosters that share the work and cover for each other, acoustic enclosures for noise-sensitive sites, and a gas leak sensor.

A gas booster must be installed with protection so it can't pull the supply pressure too low, and your gas network operator may need to approve it before it is connected. We work with your gas fitter on the installation and approvals.
Gas pressure FAQs
Why does my burner lock out on low gas pressure?
The burner's low gas pressure switch trips when the supply pressure drops below its setting, often when other equipment on site starts up or demand on the network peaks. A gas booster can hold the pressure up at the burner.
What does a gas booster do?
It raises the pressure of the incoming gas supply so burners, boilers, CHP engines, ovens, and furnaces get the pressure they are designed for.
How do I size a gas booster?
You need the gas type, the peak gas flow in m³/hr, the inlet pressure available, and the outlet pressure your equipment needs. The booster must add the difference at full flow. Our engineers can size it for you.
Is a booster cheaper than upgrading the gas line?
Often, yes, especially where a new line would need trenching or a network upgrade. It depends on the site, so we compare both options.
Is there a single phase gas booster?
Yes. The Secomak 576/1 Single Phase runs on 230 V, up to 300 m³/hr and 30 mbar.
Can a gas booster handle biogas?
Yes. Secomak boosters are built for natural gas, town gas, and biogas, and Utile boosters also handle landfill gas.
Does a gas booster need approval?
It must be installed with protection against pulling the supply pressure too low, and your gas network operator may need to approve it. We work with your gas fitter on the approvals.
