Anaerobic Digestion and Biogas
Anaerobic digestion breaks down sewage, manure, and food waste without oxygen, producing biogas that can fire boilers and combined heat and power plants. Hurll Nu-Way supplies digester mixing systems, compressors and gas boosters for biogas, and burners that run on it.
Equipment by stage
From the digester tank to the burner, we supply equipment for each stage.

Getting value from biogas
Biogas from a digester is often used to fire boilers or combined heat and power plants on site, which helps pay back the cost of the system. Getting it there needs compressors or boosters built for wet, aggressive gas, and burners set up for its lower calorific value.
Send us the digester size, the feedstock, and how you want to use the gas, and we will recommend the equipment.

What is anaerobic digestion?
A process where bacteria break down organic waste such as sewage, manure, and food waste without oxygen, producing biogas and digestate.
Why does a digester need mixing?
Mixing keeps the digester contents uniform so the bacteria work efficiently and solids don't settle or form crusts.
Which compressors handle biogas?
Utile L12-70 and L95-320 rotary vane compressors use once-through lubrication with isolated bearings, which suits aggressive gases including digester and landfill gas.
Can burners run on biogas?
Yes. Bentone STG and Nu-Way MGN burners, among others, have biogas versions.
Can gas boosters handle biogas?
Yes. Secomak and Utile gas boosters handle biogas.
