Tank Heating Burners
Gas-fired immersion tube heating for process liquids. A Lanemark TX burner sits outside the tank and fires into a small tube heat exchanger in the liquid, so the heat goes straight into the tank at 80% gross efficiency or better. Hurll Nu-Way sizes, supplies, commissions, and services TX systems from 15 to 1,150 kW, for new tanks and for replacing steam or electric heating on existing ones.
Tank heating by process
All of these use the Lanemark TX range, sized to the tank, the liquid, and the heat-up time.
Metal finishing and pre-treatment
Degreasing, phosphating, anodising, and etching tanks that need to hold a steady temperature through the shift.

Steam on site already?
If you already have steam, direct steam injection heats liquids by mixing steam straight into them.

Why immersion tube heating
The burner fires directly into the tank's heat exchanger, so there is no boiler, steam main, or condensate return to lose heat along the way. An exhaust fan at the tube outlet draws the combustion gases through, spreading heat evenly through the liquid.
The tubes are small, so they take up little tank space and can be shaped to stay clear of fittings, including helical coils for round tanks. Fitting the heat exchanger needs only two flange drillings, usually in one tank wall, which makes it a simple retrofit on existing tanks.
Several burners can share one flue and exhaust fan while keeping their own control, and the TX runs on low gas supply pressures on natural gas or LPG.
Sizing a tank heating system
Lanemark sizes each TX system with its own design software. To size yours we need the tank size and shape, the liquid, the working temperature, how quickly it needs to heat up from cold, and how much product or water goes through it.
Send us those details, or a drawing of the tank, and our engineers will recommend the burner, tube size, and layout.

Process heating burnersType B approval and AS/NZS 3814
In Australia, industrial gas-fired tank heaters are Type B gas appliances. Burner and gas train work needs to meet AS/NZS 3814 and be accepted under your state's Type B approval process. We supply TX systems for Type B installations and work with your gas fitter and inspector.
Tank heating FAQs
How does an immersion tube tank heater work?
A gas burner outside the tank fires into a tube heat exchanger immersed in the liquid. An exhaust fan at the tube outlet draws the hot combustion gases through the tube, which heats the liquid around it.
How efficient is gas immersion tube tank heating?
Lanemark TX systems are at least 80% efficient on the gross calorific value of the gas, and at least 90% on net.
Can I replace steam or electric tank heating with gas?
Often, yes. The TX heat exchanger fits through two flange drillings, usually in one tank wall, so it can replace steam coils or electric elements on existing tanks. We will check the tank and the heat load first.
What size tank heating burner do I need?
It depends on the tank volume, the liquid, the working temperature, the heat-up time, and how much product goes through. The TX range covers 15 to 1,150 kW, and we size each system for you.
What tanks is the TX used on?
Metal finishing and pre-treatment tanks, degreasing, phosphating, anodising and etching tanks, parts, crate, and bottle washers, hot water tanks, brewery wort coppers, CIP tanks, and food blanchers.
Does it run on LPG?
Yes. The TX runs on natural gas or LPG (propane).
Do tank heating burners need to meet a standard?
Yes. In Australia, industrial gas-fired tank heaters are Type B appliances, so the burner and gas train must meet AS/NZS 3814 and be accepted under your state's Type B approval process.
